Weekend Update

I could really use a weekend of nothingness....a weekend with no plans, PJ's and movie marathons. This does not appear to be in the cards for us anytime soon.  This weekend was as all others seem to be. Crazy Busy.

Friday evening John & Gav headed to a Wahoo's game to celebrate Gavin's  AR victory. Much like, Annabelle did last year Gavin topped the mini Brandts AR reading goal every semester for the entire year! Needless to say, this sort of celebrating did not involve girls tagging alone...most especially sisters and step moms.  So the lady Brandts settled for dinner out and a movie in. We even ate ice cream. IN THE LIVING ROOM. You heard that right folks, it was a crazy night.

Saturday the mini Brandts had their Awana end of the year water party & I had a gun safety class at the Sheriff's Department. I'm applying for my concealed weapons permit (you know since work now involves going into vacant houses with strangers and all). Besides, I love shooting, but with ammo so expensive I rarely go to the range.

They should consider less attractive targets

We spent Saturday evening cooking out with my Dad, Step Mom & 2 of my lovely sisters.  The kiddo's enjoyed some much sought after pool time & some delicious homemade ice cream too!

Sunday we started the morning off with Awana recognition at Church (Gavin was clearly thrilled as you can tell from the photo below) & finished the day with friends, food and a brand new slip in slide  put to good use.

This is how I will feel tomorrow. Bring on Monday....actually bring on Friday.

Art in the Park

It has been a wonderfully rainy Saturday. We spent the majority of the day today holed up indoors in cozy clothes watching movies and trash TV. As a whole, it was blissful. Sure the kids were BORED ( I know, because they told me about 65 Bazillion times) but nothing beats a rainy afternoon movie marathon & an excuse to wear gym clothes all day long. Well...not much does anyway. Before the downpour started we ventured out to Art in the Park. Heaven was *so excited*. She loves art and was thrilled to have a chance to see "real" artwork and talk with some "real" artists ( I was a little offended she does not consider me a part of this "real" artist list...I mean, she's seen what I can do with some glitter glue). Mr. Eric Cobb was at the top of her list. He's been a Bestie of mine for years and is amazingly talented. If you're in the market for some palette knife artwork, you should check out his fabulousness  for yourself. Totally not the ...

Treaters

Here are the Branditos all ready to hit the streets trick or treating. We had a great time  & much to the kids pleasure came home with loads of candy. Of course their intake will be limited...but they haven't considered that just yet  (John already went through and claimed most of the kitkats) Gavin had trouble deciding exactly what he wanted to be this year. His top two picks, were Link from Zelda & a skeleton.  As you can see, in the end he decided on a skeleton. His costume was pretty cool & the bones were textured so you could feel them. The mask was short lived... thankfully... because honestly, it was a little scary... oh, and because it almost caused several accidents due to the limited visibility it provided. Heaven dressed as Abbey Bominable from Monster High. She's really into Monster High right now as I'm told it's very "cool" unfortunately her "cool" parents find most of the dolls a bit inappropriate, so really A...
