Newbies.

We had our orientation at Dixon Intermediate today.  The girls were of course super excited, but GAVIN ACTUALLY REQUESTED A PHOTO of him in his new desk...so I think that shows he's a little excited too.
4th Grader Heaven in her desk! She has Mrs. Kennison this year.

5th Grader Gavin in his new desk in Mrs. Orehosky's Room!

3rd Grader Annabelle in Mrs. Walker's class!!

We were very excited with the kid's teachers this year...especially since it's a new school for them! Annabelle's teacher, Mrs. Walker was her Aunt Casey's 3rd grade teacher too!! Casey said it was her all time favorite teacher...so we're taking that as a very good sign. Heaven has Mrs. Kennison and she remembered her from her subbing days at Pea Ridge the minute she saw her! Gavin has Mrs. Orehosky who I went to school with. She is just wonderful and she'll keep a special eye on Gav. Gavin's classroom is also across from Uncle Brian's so he can drop in and say hello to him from time to time too! All of the kids had  at least 1 person in their class who they already knew also which hopefully  will make the first day a little easier.

Art in the Park

It has been a wonderfully rainy Saturday. We spent the majority of the day today holed up indoors in cozy clothes watching movies and trash TV. As a whole, it was blissful. Sure the kids were BORED ( I know, because they told me about 65 Bazillion times) but nothing beats a rainy afternoon movie marathon & an excuse to wear gym clothes all day long. Well...not much does anyway. Before the downpour started we ventured out to Art in the Park. Heaven was *so excited*. She loves art and was thrilled to have a chance to see "real" artwork and talk with some "real" artists ( I was a little offended she does not consider me a part of this "real" artist list...I mean, she's seen what I can do with some glitter glue). Mr. Eric Cobb was at the top of her list. He's been a Bestie of mine for years and is amazingly talented. If you're in the market for some palette knife artwork, you should check out his fabulousness  for yourself. Totally not the ...

Treaters

Here are the Branditos all ready to hit the streets trick or treating. We had a great time  & much to the kids pleasure came home with loads of candy. Of course their intake will be limited...but they haven't considered that just yet  (John already went through and claimed most of the kitkats) Gavin had trouble deciding exactly what he wanted to be this year. His top two picks, were Link from Zelda & a skeleton.  As you can see, in the end he decided on a skeleton. His costume was pretty cool & the bones were textured so you could feel them. The mask was short lived... thankfully... because honestly, it was a little scary... oh, and because it almost caused several accidents due to the limited visibility it provided. Heaven dressed as Abbey Bominable from Monster High. She's really into Monster High right now as I'm told it's very "cool" unfortunately her "cool" parents find most of the dolls a bit inappropriate, so really A...
