Genius.

We still owe Annabelle 2 more AR trips so yesterday I thought I'd escape the "hurricane" madness of Pensacola and cross one off our list. We decided to give Auntie Jenny a visit in her new apartment in Mobile (AU Pharmacy Program...GO JEN!) and let her show us around for a while. We drove around campus for a bit and grabbed lunch at Hero's, which is close to her apartment. It has a very "college" feel to it, and Annabelle felt very "cool" to be out with the ladies.

After lunch we headed over to the Explorium to waste away the rest of the afternoon. I love the Explorium, because they change their main exhibits our pretty regularly, so no 2 times are ever the same. Plus, it actually attempts to help the kids LEARN something while they're playing....vs just running around like mad heathens.  Annabelle really liked the kid science area & the "matter" exhibit they have. Especially the soap bubble cloud maker. The poor worker really tried to interest her in the how & whys of how the soap clouds were made...but it was all lost on AB. Mainly she just had fun throwing it around. And I was secretly jealous he didn't give me one too...so I couldn't really blame her.

Annabelle was NOT a fan of the "Body" exhibit at all. I thought it was SO fascinating, but I think she was too young to appreciate it. Mostly she just kept uttering words like "gross", "ew" and "sick".

Don't be fooled by the smile...it took lots of threats to make this photo happen

This was SO stinking cool, it allowed you to perform a fake surgery...it was pretty in depth..but REALLY neat!
We finished up the evening with some Hurricane preparation. Because the Weather channel strives to dramatizes everything weather related it has deemed Tropical Storm Issac will be a Cat 2 Hurricane by the time it gets close to the gulf coast. As of today, Pensacola is right in the center of the projected area, so needless to say it was a mad rush already to get supplies. Several gas stations are out of gas, the lines at Walmart & Home Depot were ridiculous, and there is talk of school closures already. It's not predicted to be close to us until at least Tuesday...AND it's still hundreds of miles away AND it's just a tropical storm currently....that's basically just a bad thunderstorm....we have those every afternoon!! I'm all for being prepared, but I'm also for being reasonable!! **End Rant** Just the same, since there is a Sam's Club right by Jen's apt, after dropping her back off me and AB ran in to pick up a FEW essentials. It wasn't nearly as ridiculous as Pensacola, so luckily we were in and out in no time. Overall our Mobile trip was definitely a success....now, if we can just come thru this next week of weather craziness as easily....
All AB's shopping gave her an appetite

Annabelle said we definitely NEEDED some snacks in case we were trapped for hours...

Art in the Park

It has been a wonderfully rainy Saturday. We spent the majority of the day today holed up indoors in cozy clothes watching movies and trash TV. As a whole, it was blissful. Sure the kids were BORED ( I know, because they told me about 65 Bazillion times) but nothing beats a rainy afternoon movie marathon & an excuse to wear gym clothes all day long. Well...not much does anyway. Before the downpour started we ventured out to Art in the Park. Heaven was *so excited*. She loves art and was thrilled to have a chance to see "real" artwork and talk with some "real" artists ( I was a little offended she does not consider me a part of this "real" artist list...I mean, she's seen what I can do with some glitter glue). Mr. Eric Cobb was at the top of her list. He's been a Bestie of mine for years and is amazingly talented. If you're in the market for some palette knife artwork, you should check out his fabulousness  for yourself. Totally not the ...

Treaters

Here are the Branditos all ready to hit the streets trick or treating. We had a great time  & much to the kids pleasure came home with loads of candy. Of course their intake will be limited...but they haven't considered that just yet  (John already went through and claimed most of the kitkats) Gavin had trouble deciding exactly what he wanted to be this year. His top two picks, were Link from Zelda & a skeleton.  As you can see, in the end he decided on a skeleton. His costume was pretty cool & the bones were textured so you could feel them. The mask was short lived... thankfully... because honestly, it was a little scary... oh, and because it almost caused several accidents due to the limited visibility it provided. Heaven dressed as Abbey Bominable from Monster High. She's really into Monster High right now as I'm told it's very "cool" unfortunately her "cool" parents find most of the dolls a bit inappropriate, so really A...
