Funky Town

My Dancing Queen & My Far Out Hippy

Thursday evening SSDI held their first Family Night for the year. Similar to PRE's Pow Wow, the event provided loads of games, food and fun for the children and family of SSDI students. The theme of the night was "Disco"...which the girls numerously confused with "The 80's". I found extreme offense in this mix up.

The students have worked very hard  learning a number of "Disco" dances. They took turn performing by age group and even GAVIN GOT HIS DANCE ON!! Gavin was a dance "leader" and danced ON STAGE in front of the group!! My heart exploded for him.

Annabelle

Heaven

I shot a few videos of their performances too....

Here's Heaven :) You can see when she realizes she's being recorded and turns the charm on...

There's no audio on this one, but Annabelle took her dancing very seriously....

Here's Gavin on stage...He's kind of hard to spot, but he's got on an orange shirt :)

Here's another one of Annabelle :)

The kids had a great night, and Heaven declared it the best night of the year!! I think winning a cake in the cake walk could have had something to do with that.....

Check out Gavin's new hair!!

Art in the Park

It has been a wonderfully rainy Saturday. We spent the majority of the day today holed up indoors in cozy clothes watching movies and trash TV. As a whole, it was blissful. Sure the kids were BORED ( I know, because they told me about 65 Bazillion times) but nothing beats a rainy afternoon movie marathon & an excuse to wear gym clothes all day long. Well...not much does anyway. Before the downpour started we ventured out to Art in the Park. Heaven was *so excited*. She loves art and was thrilled to have a chance to see "real" artwork and talk with some "real" artists ( I was a little offended she does not consider me a part of this "real" artist list...I mean, she's seen what I can do with some glitter glue). Mr. Eric Cobb was at the top of her list. He's been a Bestie of mine for years and is amazingly talented. If you're in the market for some palette knife artwork, you should check out his fabulousness  for yourself. Totally not the ...

Treaters

Here are the Branditos all ready to hit the streets trick or treating. We had a great time  & much to the kids pleasure came home with loads of candy. Of course their intake will be limited...but they haven't considered that just yet  (John already went through and claimed most of the kitkats) Gavin had trouble deciding exactly what he wanted to be this year. His top two picks, were Link from Zelda & a skeleton.  As you can see, in the end he decided on a skeleton. His costume was pretty cool & the bones were textured so you could feel them. The mask was short lived... thankfully... because honestly, it was a little scary... oh, and because it almost caused several accidents due to the limited visibility it provided. Heaven dressed as Abbey Bominable from Monster High. She's really into Monster High right now as I'm told it's very "cool" unfortunately her "cool" parents find most of the dolls a bit inappropriate, so really A...
