A Fish Tale

The catches!
My bestie's birthday is at the end of May & John's is at the begining. What better way to celebrate getting older, than a Salt Water Fishing trip? We started this tradition last year, and it was even better this go round (not throwing up the whole trip really does a lot to pump up the enjoyment level). My 2 favorites + friends, open ocean, & the option to come home with a cooler of fresh fish...sounds like WINNING to me.

Big Catch # 1

We didn't bring home as MANY fish this year, but I caught my 2 biggest fish ever!! It started out as a frustrating situation as since we were on a charter the majority of the people on board were strangers. A group who obviously knew the crew of the boat brought their own gear and bait to fish for Amberjack. The problem with that is that Amberjack are famous for weaving...and when you've got a billion lines in the water...weaving creates a major problem. The unsuspecting Amberjack must have gotten board with the bait brought on board and decided my squid looked more tasty. I hooked the first Amberjack and got him on board (well John did as my reel wasn't the best and needed muscle) with little to no issue. Unfortunately, he was 2 inches too small to keep.  The keeper was caught a short while later, however while I had him hooked, someone else hooked a shark on the other side of the boat...this created a mass chaos that resulted in about 30 minutes of confusion and no fishing for everyone on board...but in the end left us with big catch #2!

My 2 Favorites!

Me & Shell!
We finished the evening by hosting a fish fry for the fishing team & a few others. John did 90% of the work ( me + grease is just a catastrophe waiting to happen). We fried up our white fish catches and grilled the Amberjack. We only prepared about 1/2 of the total catch, but there was plenty to go around & we even had a bit leftover! I'm debating just quiting my day job to become a professional fish slayer. John siad I should probably think on it a few days before I make any big decisions though...

Art in the Park

It has been a wonderfully rainy Saturday. We spent the majority of the day today holed up indoors in cozy clothes watching movies and trash TV. As a whole, it was blissful. Sure the kids were BORED ( I know, because they told me about 65 Bazillion times) but nothing beats a rainy afternoon movie marathon & an excuse to wear gym clothes all day long. Well...not much does anyway. Before the downpour started we ventured out to Art in the Park. Heaven was *so excited*. She loves art and was thrilled to have a chance to see "real" artwork and talk with some "real" artists ( I was a little offended she does not consider me a part of this "real" artist list...I mean, she's seen what I can do with some glitter glue). Mr. Eric Cobb was at the top of her list. He's been a Bestie of mine for years and is amazingly talented. If you're in the market for some palette knife artwork, you should check out his fabulousness  for yourself. Totally not the ...

Treaters

Here are the Branditos all ready to hit the streets trick or treating. We had a great time  & much to the kids pleasure came home with loads of candy. Of course their intake will be limited...but they haven't considered that just yet  (John already went through and claimed most of the kitkats) Gavin had trouble deciding exactly what he wanted to be this year. His top two picks, were Link from Zelda & a skeleton.  As you can see, in the end he decided on a skeleton. His costume was pretty cool & the bones were textured so you could feel them. The mask was short lived... thankfully... because honestly, it was a little scary... oh, and because it almost caused several accidents due to the limited visibility it provided. Heaven dressed as Abbey Bominable from Monster High. She's really into Monster High right now as I'm told it's very "cool" unfortunately her "cool" parents find most of the dolls a bit inappropriate, so really A...
