Flute Fluke.

This Saturday the girls and I headed down to Floridatown Park for the annual Creek Indian Pow Wow.  Gavin was feeling under the weather, and it was gorgeous outside so it seemed like a good way to spend part of our Saturday. The girls really loved it, and surprisingly enjoyed watching the ceremonial dances, though they could not be tempted to join in when it was allowed. In an effort to avoid the "Can we buy everything PUHLEASSSSE" discussion which usually ends poorly for the children I gave each of the mini Brandt ladies an option, $5 to spend on whatever they chose at the festival or to spend on a treat at the festival or on the way home. The only limit I put on this, was that it could not be on an actual weapon of any kind as Heaven had her eye on a bow & arrow. Nothing good can come from a child and a bow & arrow. Nothing.

While Annabelle did enjoy browsing thru the craft booths, she decided that her sweet tooth was stronger than her need for Native American paraphernalia. and decided to spend her money on a treat from Sweet Frog.  Heaven however decided she REALLY NEEDED to spend her $5 on a new flute. As I hadn't outlawed such dreadful things in my original breakdown of the rules
(Rookie Mistake) the flute came home with us. Heaven is thoroughly enjoying her attempts to create beautiful music throughout the weekend. I'm afraid however...she may be the only one. Needless to say it may not be around much longer. If I don't destroy it....Gavin surely will.

I suspect the girls will have colored eye brows for several days

Art in the Park

It has been a wonderfully rainy Saturday. We spent the majority of the day today holed up indoors in cozy clothes watching movies and trash TV. As a whole, it was blissful. Sure the kids were BORED ( I know, because they told me about 65 Bazillion times) but nothing beats a rainy afternoon movie marathon & an excuse to wear gym clothes all day long. Well...not much does anyway. Before the downpour started we ventured out to Art in the Park. Heaven was *so excited*. She loves art and was thrilled to have a chance to see "real" artwork and talk with some "real" artists ( I was a little offended she does not consider me a part of this "real" artist list...I mean, she's seen what I can do with some glitter glue). Mr. Eric Cobb was at the top of her list. He's been a Bestie of mine for years and is amazingly talented. If you're in the market for some palette knife artwork, you should check out his fabulousness  for yourself. Totally not the ...

Treaters

Here are the Branditos all ready to hit the streets trick or treating. We had a great time  & much to the kids pleasure came home with loads of candy. Of course their intake will be limited...but they haven't considered that just yet  (John already went through and claimed most of the kitkats) Gavin had trouble deciding exactly what he wanted to be this year. His top two picks, were Link from Zelda & a skeleton.  As you can see, in the end he decided on a skeleton. His costume was pretty cool & the bones were textured so you could feel them. The mask was short lived... thankfully... because honestly, it was a little scary... oh, and because it almost caused several accidents due to the limited visibility it provided. Heaven dressed as Abbey Bominable from Monster High. She's really into Monster High right now as I'm told it's very "cool" unfortunately her "cool" parents find most of the dolls a bit inappropriate, so really A...
