Pen pals

I have an amazing friend, Kat on the other side of the world in New Zealand. She's a lucky lady & like myself will be obtaining 3 step children in an upcoming marriage. I was talking to Kat yesterday and we were talking about how cool it would be if our kids could hang out since they are so close in age (hers are 7, 8, 9 vs our 7, 9, 11). Since a lack of private plane makes that impossible, we thought having (forcing) them to be pen pals might be something fun to try. The Branditos started their letters last night with a letter and small treat to be mailed out this week. It will be very interesting to see how long this little idea lasts! I think once they get letters back, they might think it's really cool...but for now...I am just using my cool parent knowledge to assure them how rewarding it will be. Besides, who can't use a little extra writing help!!

This is Kat, Neil & Mini's Orin, Kyla & Alec.  Who knows maybe one day these Kiwi's and our Branditos will be great friends!!! Until then, I see lots of Skype dates in our future!

Art in the Park

It has been a wonderfully rainy Saturday. We spent the majority of the day today holed up indoors in cozy clothes watching movies and trash TV. As a whole, it was blissful. Sure the kids were BORED ( I know, because they told me about 65 Bazillion times) but nothing beats a rainy afternoon movie marathon & an excuse to wear gym clothes all day long. Well...not much does anyway. Before the downpour started we ventured out to Art in the Park. Heaven was *so excited*. She loves art and was thrilled to have a chance to see "real" artwork and talk with some "real" artists ( I was a little offended she does not consider me a part of this "real" artist list...I mean, she's seen what I can do with some glitter glue). Mr. Eric Cobb was at the top of her list. He's been a Bestie of mine for years and is amazingly talented. If you're in the market for some palette knife artwork, you should check out his fabulousness  for yourself. Totally not the ...

Treaters

Here are the Branditos all ready to hit the streets trick or treating. We had a great time  & much to the kids pleasure came home with loads of candy. Of course their intake will be limited...but they haven't considered that just yet  (John already went through and claimed most of the kitkats) Gavin had trouble deciding exactly what he wanted to be this year. His top two picks, were Link from Zelda & a skeleton.  As you can see, in the end he decided on a skeleton. His costume was pretty cool & the bones were textured so you could feel them. The mask was short lived... thankfully... because honestly, it was a little scary... oh, and because it almost caused several accidents due to the limited visibility it provided. Heaven dressed as Abbey Bominable from Monster High. She's really into Monster High right now as I'm told it's very "cool" unfortunately her "cool" parents find most of the dolls a bit inappropriate, so really A...
