Learn'n Tally Style

We began our last day in Tally town well rested & with a Lady Brandt choice lunch of McDonalds.

When we'd had our caloric intake for 5 days, we headed off to the Tallahassee Museum. I hadn't been in years and was worried it would be a let down. I was definitely wrong. We arrived right as they were opening for the day, and were kicked out a closing. Such a cool place & HUGE!

One of the first things we did, was walk thru an old farm town they have set up. During the week, they have workers who act out different roles on the farm. On Sunday morning however, it's just you and the farm animals. Not to be deterred, I forced suggested the Lady Brandts take turns reading about the different exhibits which they complained relentlessly about, loathed doing, agreed was a great way to learn about this interesting historical period.

Next we headed to one of the many classrooms on the museum grounds.  The classrooms had various animals, mostly reptiles and or small things in various cages. They also had really kid friendly microscopes and slides for kids to try out. We took advantage of exploring both.

The snake followed Annabelle everywhere. She didn't understand why I did not feel this was a good thing.

Scientist Heaven
After we'd learned all we could in the classrooms, we set off to explore the wildlife sanctuary and wetlands area.

Coolest thing ever. This Panther was being so cute. He was throwing his pickle (random) toy around like a house cat and playing with it. We watched him for at least 20 minutes. I'll admit, it was a little weird how much we all loved it.

Gators belong in cages. All of them.

I wanted to steal him. So cute.
Annabelle got not 1, but 3 separate nose bleeds while we were in this section. As it's a sanctuary there are no bathrooms anywhere close and had to turn back each time for tissues. In retrospect, we should have just brought tissues with us the first time.

After nosebleed 3 we decided we'd seen enough animals anyway (the only ones left were the "boring" ones per the girls) & moved along to the next section which featured a few more "town" exhibits and an upscale period home.

Bossy Pants of course quickly claimed the role of teacher

The girl exploring the train (filled with CREEPY mannequins might I add)

This is my absolute favorite photo from the whole weekend. Annabelle at the Pulpit.

When we'd seen all the history we could handle we headed to our final museum stop. Fossil digging. the girls were given a quick lesson & equipment and off they went.  I have no idea where the limestone the museums uses comes from, but it was absolutely FULL of fossils. Very, Very cool. The girls could have easily stayed in this section for another hour, but it was closing time and we had to go.  I forced the girls to limit the number of fossils returning with us to a minimum as they seriously had collected like a huge bucket full. They were dramatically disappointed understanding and picked their favorites to show off in class on Monday.

We made one final stop at TCBY for a treat before heading on home. The Lady Brandts had a great weekend without any of those stinky Brandt Boys bothering us! Next weekend we head to Atlanta to see Taylor Swift and have another great Lady Brandt adventure!

Art in the Park

It has been a wonderfully rainy Saturday. We spent the majority of the day today holed up indoors in cozy clothes watching movies and trash TV. As a whole, it was blissful. Sure the kids were BORED ( I know, because they told me about 65 Bazillion times) but nothing beats a rainy afternoon movie marathon & an excuse to wear gym clothes all day long. Well...not much does anyway. Before the downpour started we ventured out to Art in the Park. Heaven was *so excited*. She loves art and was thrilled to have a chance to see "real" artwork and talk with some "real" artists ( I was a little offended she does not consider me a part of this "real" artist list...I mean, she's seen what I can do with some glitter glue). Mr. Eric Cobb was at the top of her list. He's been a Bestie of mine for years and is amazingly talented. If you're in the market for some palette knife artwork, you should check out his fabulousness  for yourself. Totally not the ...

Treaters

Here are the Branditos all ready to hit the streets trick or treating. We had a great time  & much to the kids pleasure came home with loads of candy. Of course their intake will be limited...but they haven't considered that just yet  (John already went through and claimed most of the kitkats) Gavin had trouble deciding exactly what he wanted to be this year. His top two picks, were Link from Zelda & a skeleton.  As you can see, in the end he decided on a skeleton. His costume was pretty cool & the bones were textured so you could feel them. The mask was short lived... thankfully... because honestly, it was a little scary... oh, and because it almost caused several accidents due to the limited visibility it provided. Heaven dressed as Abbey Bominable from Monster High. She's really into Monster High right now as I'm told it's very "cool" unfortunately her "cool" parents find most of the dolls a bit inappropriate, so really A...

I've been madly back blogging today.
