Check out the mini Brandts geared up and ready for the Snow!
Since we didn't take a trip to the Mountains for fall break, we planned to take a trip over Christmas break. The kids REALLY wanted to see snow, but judging by the weather forecast it looked like we were going to have to drive well into North Carolina to POSSIBLY catch a decent amount. We're talking like a 12 hour drive. If you've never traveled with small kids...maybe this doesn't sound so bad, but I know these Branditos....and believe me...it would be dreadful for all parties involved. I quickly began looking for an alternate plan and stumbled upon Stone Mountain's Snow Mountain. We had actually considered doing this on our last mountain adventure but I got sick and we had to come home early.
I was a little nervous as to how entertaining it would be as I didn't know anyone who'd been and for all of us go to, it was pretty pricey...but it met and totally exceeded all my expectations. We did the Christmas Combo so we got to do the Christmas Exhibits too. We got to play in the snow, make smores, sip hot chocolate, watch shows, go snow tubing, watch The Polar Express in 4D, sang Christmas carols on the train & so much more. We spent the majority of the day at the park and I think there were 4 or 5 things that we didn't get to do. We will definitely be going back next year on fall break...the Christmas stuff would have been WAAAYY more impressive before Christmas passed. LOL. I can't wait to go back.
I had to fight the urge to throw snowballs...at strangers...

The snow was fake, but the temperatures were not! It was in the 20's and windy. So cold.

The girls and John were chosen to be part of one of the shows at the Park as well. It's not a very good angle, but here's a video. They pretty much stole the show...
Pretend It's January 5th, 2013 It's Birthday Season here at the Brandito Lair! Mr. Brandt heads back tomorrow and it's time for the annual triple treat birthday party for Mr. B, Uncle Danny and Annabelle. Katy made 2 delicious cakes for the event. The boys got their own green cake and Annabelle got her own special Mario Cake. We had some delicious food and the Birthday people got lots of special prizes! The UnBirthday Party was definitely a success!
One of these outfits was self chosen....the other was chosen by Mama...can you guess which is which? Happy 4th of July everyone!! It was a rainy 4th for us Floridians. But with the rain comes cooler temperatures, and I'll take a little wet over sweat any day. We started the 4th off by sleeping in (which of course still means we were up by 9...) and then cooked out with the Brandt/Simmons clan for lunch. We'd planned to go to the Riverwalk area too take part in the crafts and whatnot but once the girls heard Ava was already at Nana's house...they could not be persuaded to do anything that did not include being with her. Cousins It was overcast and cloudy all day, but we did manage to escape most of the rain. Until the fireworks that is. I'm talking lite...
It's wacky hat day at PRE today. Only Annabelle felt inclined to participate as it costs 2 feathers. Heaven said it was a "total waste of feathers" and Gavin said nothing as his only hat is a Seminole hat and he's gone rogue lately claiming suppot for Gators. My dear Annabelle made up for both of their lack of sense & style. She is both Fancy in my large sunhat and Fabulous in her FSU Friday decor. Doesn't get much better. Happy Friday!
