Prep.

This is the reaction most of my "new ideas" get
Every year since Annabelle started school the kids are forced to do a "Back to School Survey". The questions are generally the same, but I usually mix in one or 2 new ones to keep it age appropriate, (For example this year we had to get rid of the "favorite cartoon" question in lieu of the "favorite TV show" question ::sniff sniff::). It's neat to look back over their old answers and also watch their handwriting and spelling improve (in some cases) each year.

This year I decided to up the anty and force the kids to particpate include a short video of the mini's to go along with their surveys...below are the results...Enjoy..

(You may have better luck viewing if you click to view directly from You Tube..)

If you listen closely...you can hear Gavin realize he's been eating Seminole germs all year...

"Can I get something out of my backpack" translation "Can I scream at Dad to retrieve something for me"

Taking excitement to a whole new level....

Annabelle was being a bit of a Debbie Downer yesterday, and was so not feeling the interview. Please ignore her sourpussness...this was her 3rd redo. She was basically viewing this for an audition to be Daria...

Overall the second week down has been a success. The kids had their first real tests  & I think they're all a bit relieved to have those behind them. They all have expressed that this year is definitely harder than last & they will definitely be doing a lot more study'n...especially Gav! In his words, "5th grade is no joke!"

Survival.

5 Boys > 2 Parents Sanity I'm not sure how it happened exactly...but after several days of recuperation, it appears we have survived the boy filled weekend. It was loud, it was messy at times, and it was most definitely chaotic...but overall...I'd say it was a fairly successful weekend for Gavin's big 1-1. Friday night he had 4 friends spend the night & though I had a mini stroke over a legitimate offer to spray paint part of our outside storage area, the boys had a blast. Gavin is really hung up on  Guthrie's  right now so we started the evening out with Guthrie's for dinner & then John, begin the brave (insane) loaded all the boys up and took them to see Ice Age.  They returned home with plenty of energy to burn & spent the rest of the evening playing outside and having video game battles. Thanks to my saint of sister who kept the girls, it was a boys only zone, and was undoubtably outnumbered.  The next morning, though they were up VERY late,...

The Who's Who of Whoville

The girls had their church Christmas Program this weekend. They performed at both morning services and were equally amazing each time around! They've been practicing for the mast few months, and all their hard work most definitely paid off.

Birthday Bash Numero Uno

Pretend It's January 5th, 2013 It's Birthday Season here at the Brandito Lair! Mr. Brandt heads back tomorrow and it's time for the annual triple treat birthday party for Mr. B, Uncle Danny and Annabelle.  Katy made 2 delicious cakes for the event. The boys got their own green cake and Annabelle got her own special Mario Cake.  We had some delicious food and the Birthday people got lots of special prizes!  The UnBirthday Party was definitely a success!
